With Mobile Workplace, it does not have to! Due to adoption of open standards adopted and the unique architecture of the solution, Mobile Workplace can be deployed in various modes with no impact to the end user. This flexibility allows customers to evaluate various approaches and organically choose the one that suits best for their organization.
Stand Alone
In Stand Alone mode, 3i’s Mobile Workplace behaves as a ‘point solution’. This is a great way for an enterprise to begin their mobility initiative and provide a rapid solution for SAP mobility. Best of all your users get to enjoy the stunning end user interface which Mobile Workplace has become famous for.
Enterprise Mode
In Enterprise mode, the Mobile Workplace is deployed as a middleware Server and its role is to marshall inbound/outbound mobile communications. This architecture is ideal for organizations that have multiple SAP solutions deployed (i.e. ECC, SRM, CRM, etc). This mode also supports communication with non SAP servers via Web Services. The solution can optionally be deployed alongside SAP’s XI/PI solution to ensure the integrity of all inbound/outbound communication via a central messaging server.
Sybase® Unwired Platform & SAP® Gateway
For enterprise customers that have standardized on either SAP Gateway or the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP), Mobile Workplace can be deployed alongside these solution to provide a rapid prototyping and development platform using ABAP. Any application developed on the Mobile Workplace platform can be deployed via SUP and/or SAP Gateway solutions.
